Thanks for stepping up like Katniss Everdeen and volunteering your playlist as tribute. Can you give us a bit of background on yourself? Which office you work out of, your role and day-to-day activities?

Of course! I’m a content strategist based in the PDX Design Studio office in Portland. My role involves collaborating with our user experience and visual designers to provide perspective on content strategy and architecture, as well as copywriting support, on various projects.

I had the chance to visit the Portland office and area this past May and had a great time. Have you always called Portland your home?

No, I’m originally from a (very) small town in rural southeastern Colorado. I moved to Portland eight years ago after I graduated from the University of Northern Colorado.

What is one thing that surprised you about Portland and find you couldn’t live without?

Honestly, I’m still surprised by how much I enjoy the rainy weather. Not because I like the rain per se, I just enjoy being able to spend hours of any given day working on music and personal projects without feeling guilty of not being outside or socializing. It’s wonderful.

We understand you moonlight as a DJ, care to tell us how you got into it and how often?

I actually just started DJing last fall when a friend and I started our current radio show MIXED FEELINGS on Freeform Portland Radio. Since then, I’ve been DJing out a couple times a month. My next show is next Friday, July 19 at Nightwave, a new queer deep house party that my good friend is starting up.

Prior to DJing, I’ve spent the past few years focusing on live performance using electronic hardware. I have (way too many) an assortment of synthesizers, drum machines and samplers that I connect to each other to create live musical arrangements.  (Search ‘RA Sessions’ on YouTube to get an idea of what this looks like.)

Last question, you are organizing a music festival, who are the three headliners you book?

Any three DJs from the Discwoman roster! J
