ISA GONZALEZ

Can you give us a bit of background on yourself? When did you join EY, where were you prior to joining, etc.?

HI, I am Isa! I go by Isa cause it’s shorter, to the point, no beef with Isabella. I joined EY August of 2022 right after I graduated from SCAD in Savannah. I added some photos in, of me and my brothers my best friends in this life. My sweet puppy Remi. My Partner for life and then a fun picture of one of my many costumes I love to wear and do bits with. I also added some of my art outside of work, I love portraits! I am unnervingly passionate about menus and do redesigns for local businesses. I also added my bakeoff concept that got me first place, both in taste and design. Oh and a fun game we developed in undergrad to love each other better.

As we are just kicking off, are there any new opportunities, projects, or events or other exciting changes you are looking forward to for the year?

I am excited to be on a project again that may have some level of travel. I love when I get to see the team and have in person sessions. I also am hoping to dive deeper into interaction design— I want to get a bit more kinetic.

We understand you are a bit of a chef at home? What has been your favorite meal you’ve made to date? Any go-to or repeats? While we’re on the topic, what is a quintessential meal-prep/cooking song for you?

I love to cook, this is probably where my mind is most at rest. I am not a recipe girl, but I feel cooking is where I can play and have this really cool multi-sensory experience. It is also fun to feed others and externalize care. Meal prep usually depends on what I am getting out of it. If it’s meditative, Bossa nova or some yacht rock. And I think my favorite dishes are when I get reminded that there is still so much I don’t know about, even about my own passions. I made my first emulsion, and it was just so thrilling, that yes, life is long and I want to try everything I can. It’s small, but it feels like a practice in gratitude and edible alchemy. But a more concise answer is food taste super good.

What is something people don’t know about you because the right question hasn’t gotten around to you yet?

I don’t have many self secrets, as a chronic oversharer, but if I were to name one thing: I am quite hyperactive and I love to jump. I probably log 2-4 jump sessions a night and a dance time wind down to get the electricity out to allow myself to sleep. I got an oura ring to track my steps and I average about 8K just from jumping or dancing in my bathroom, so that was really neat data. I also don’t seemingly have a word count per diem, I sincerely never stop talking, even if I am solo. But I think that one is quite evident.

First concert? Favorite venue? Furthest you’ve traveled for a concert?

First concert was Pentatonix, classic theater kid first at 16. Furthest spiritually? Astral planes I don’t even think we have names for. Geographically? Pretty domestic, maybe California.

Go to song to kick off a dance party?

World Hold on, bob Sinclair. Love that FISHER brought it to the mainstream, but a classic is just that. Classic. This song has everything, danceability, energy, and an emotive call to action to access the deepest love you feel and connect with your inner child. It doesn’t get better than that. It’s my birthday song and one of the most impactful unifiers amongst friends to scream and shout and speak aloud over each other.

Last question, you are the headliner of a concert, what band or song opens for you?

Ugh, now this is a TOUGHYYYY. Maybe Steeley Dan. But if it’s like after 6pm a posthumous jam with Donna Summer.
