Before joining EY, what were you up to and involved in? How did you come to find yourself a seat in our USQ office?

As typical Indians, all parents eagerly invest their hard-earned money in making their child an engineer. And how can my parents unfollow the trend???

So, here am I, a Computer Engineer, with both undergrad and master’s degree. Trust me, my parents were super proud of me until I realized that engineering was not my cup of tea. I was always into creativity actually.

Then big thanks to my brother, Shailesh, who fulfilled his job of being a big brother really well!! He introduced me to UX and from there, it was a ride.

I learnt more about UX and gained some skills and experience in the same. I was fortunate enough to get a seat at RIT in Human Computer Interaction program. During my Masters, I did two internships. One was at Wegmans, where I redesigned their POS experience which is already live in all the stores and second was at a startup “ChargeItSpot” in Philly. In my second last semester, EY came to our career fair and that’s how I got to know about Digital practice at EY. Thanks to Viktor (who used to work as a UXer at EY), who explained me more about the role and digital group in detail which really fascinated me and I landed in here.

Has New York/New Jersey always been home for you? How does it differ from where you grew up?

I have stayed for good 3 years in upstate New York, Rochester or should I say - snow wonderland. It was so different (little quite but beautiful, no offence people!!) from the city I grew up. Rochester is a small city and I was born and raised in the capital of India, New Delhi. It is one of the most happening city of India (and safe too, IGNORE MEDIA), always lively and full of hustle bustle.

Call me a weirdo, but I was never fond of living in NYC earlier but now, since I am getting to know the city closely, I have started falling for it. NYC has a different vibe and reminds of the impulsiveness and craziness of my city, New Delhi, my hometown.

I understand you live in Jersey City (near a few other EYers), how do you find the commute and access to EY from there?

I live in Newport which is right next to Hudson River. It is pretty easy to commute as I just take Path to work. So, from door to door, it takes 30 minutes (15 mins train and 15 mins walking) that’s it and plus you get amazing view of NYC skyline from the apartments.

Still relatively new firm, have you been able to work on any exciting projects or have any projects you look forward to working on?

I am only 2 projects old but my first project was pretty exciting and challenging. I was given a problem for which I have to provide a digital solution. So, we designed the prototype for Auditors to have a better collaboration with auditees during fieldwork in order to get efficient results. So, it was quite challenging because I was not much familiar with the Auditor and Auditees work. And it was exciting because I got an opportunity to work on a prototype from the scratch.

Last question, any hidden talents (music or not)?

Ummm, I love music but not a singer nor do I play any instrument but I do have a passion for dancing. If anyone knows a good dance school nearby (inexpensive one please!), do let me know. As I would love to learn a new dance form. And yeah, I have done Yoga at a professional level for 3-4 years. So, yes, I can break my bones for money :)
